After the ‘success’ of strike earlier this month, major parties’ trade unions have planned for another bandh on 7th September. Congress is also included in major parties.
At a meeting of the major trade unions on Thursday, a decision was taken that a one day bandh would be called all over India for vital sectors like telecommunication, banking, transport and mining.
Involvement of the Congress-affiliated INTUC is a new feature of Bharat Bandh on 7th September. INTUC leader and Congress MP D Sanjeeva Reddy has been chosen as convener for the Trade Union council leading the strike effort.
AITUC leader and CPI MP Gurudas Dasgupta said, “I hope Reddy will fight our battle within Congress as well.”
The other matters, on which the strike will be focused, are the `flawed’ economic policy, disinvestment in the Public Sector Undertakings and the `unfulfilled promise’ of a welfare proposal for the unorganized sector.
